  • Would a Finals loss disqualify LeBron from the GOAT conversation?

Speak For YourselfSpeak For Yourselfپیش 28 روز
    • @Biggs Let me school you on critical thinking bro. MJ was basically a scorer on the offensive side of the ball. And he was very flashy doing it at that time. Ge was also a very good defender. But LeBron is by far a more complete player. Look at the statistics. What gets lost in the argument is the quality of the the teams each played with. Jordan won because his team was always a first class team with or without him. When the Bulls won the 6 championships, the only statistical category Jordan led the team in was scoring. Guess who led them in assists, rebounding and steals? You guessed it, Pippen. The year Jordan left the team, the Bulls had won 58 game. The next season with Pippen, the team won 55 games, just 3 less than when Jordan was there. Pippen took them to the Eastern conference semi finals, and lost to a bad call by the ref Hugh Hollings.. Now even you look at the impact on the teams LeBron has played for, he's led them in points, assists and rebounds in just about every playoff series. When LeBron left The Cavs, the became a lottery team the following season, when he left Miami, Miami ended up in the lottery and when he left the Cavs a second time, the Cavs ended right back in the lottery. I could go on and on, but I think you hey the picture..

      Eric LindEric Lindپیش 28 روز
    • @Biggs Since 2016 it's been over. LeBron Cemented himself as the GOAT. Anything after that has been gravy. Greatness is not measured by the number of Championships won, that's the weakest metric of them all. No one would say Horry was a greater player than Ewing or Barkley, both having none and Rob having 7. But I get why you guys argue that, it's akin to the proverbial straw that a dying man grabs on to for fear life..🤣🤣🤣

  • It’s really not even close? Thought I should share the answers to y'all Gonzo’s question... HERE IT IS: Jordan vs James Updated after LeBron’s 14th season. Michael Jordan has: •3 more rings •3 more final mvps •1 more DPOY •1 more season MVP •9 more scoring titles •3 more steals leader •3 more all defensive team selections •4000 more points / bron moved past him in playoff points, but it took him longer. •800 more steals •Beat 20 50+ win teams in the playoffs (Lebron only defeated 10) •Jordan never averaged less than 40% Field Goal in the finals Lebron did it twice •6/6 (never allowed a game 7) •Lebron had much more offensive help, example: Jordan never had a teammate average more than 22 points in the finals.. In fact, Mj is Only player in NBA history to lead a team to the championship with only one teammate averaging double figures in scoring * In the Bulls’ 1997 playoff run, Scottie Pippen averaged 19 points per game on 42% shooting. All other teammates of Jordan averaged under 8 points per game Kyrie averaged over 28 and DWade averaged more than 26 •MJ never ever had a finals meltdown like Lebron in 2011 against the Mavs •MJ had more points in the playoffs in less games.. MJ accomplished all of this in 13 seasons Lebron after his 14th season, is still chasing the “ghost” (GOAT) that played in Chicago” •Michael Jordan in the playoffs has put up atleast 40ppg, 5rpg, 5apg in 6 different playoff series. Along with an average of about 55% shooting, 3spg and 2bpg. (86 vs bos, 89 vs cavs, 90 vs philly, 92 vs Miami, 93 vs Phoenix, 88 vs cavs) Jordan won every one of those matchups except for the 1986 matchup vs the celtics. •Jordan in 88-89 averaged 32ppg, 8apg, 8rpg, 3spg off 54% shooting. LeBron has never even came close to this stat line. •in 87 thru 92, MJ averaged 5 straight seasons of atleast 51% FG shooting. LeBron has never done this. •the lowest FT% MJ ever shot in a season was 78%. Lebrons highest in a season ever is 78%. •MJ has a higher playoff FG% of 48.7% to Lebrons 48.3% •MJ has a higher playoff player efficiency rating of 28.6 to Lebrons 27.3. •MJ shoots a higher playoff 3 point percentage of 33.2% to Lebrons 32.9% •LeBron James has scored 30 points, 416 times in 1,117 games. Michael Jordan did it 562 times in 1,072 games. Jordan won 6 championships without losing a final in 1,072 games and LeBron in 1,117 games has lost 5 times and has only won 3 times (updated 2018) •MJ also shocked the league by being the first (and only) player to have 100 blocks and 200 steals in the same season, then turned around and did it again the next year.. •Mj also has more career blocks (893) than Lebron James (853) despite playing in 22 LESS career games and being the smaller guy. Also, MJ averaged 1.6 blocks per game in the 1987-88 season which is absolutely bonkers for a 6’6″ shooting guard. Seriously this list can keep going. This isn’t even a debate. Mj is the GOAT. MIchael Jordan: •NBA record 5 playoffs series’ averaging atleast 40ppg •Only player in history to lead league in scoring and win DPOY •Highest scoring average, points per game, in any championship series: 41.0 vs. Phoenix Suns, 1993 NBA Finals •Only rookie in NBA history to lead his team in four statistics (1984-85) •Only player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring, win Most Valuable Player, and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season (1987-88) •Only player in history to average at least 30pts 6reb 5assists And 2 steals per game AND HE DID IT 7 TIMES. •Only player in NBA history to win Rookie of the Year (1984-85), Defensive Player of the Year (1987-88), NBA MVP (1987-88, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1995-96, 1997-98), All-Star MVP (1988, 1996, 1998), and Finals MVP (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998) •Only player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring and win the NBA championship MORE THAN ONCE in the same season * He did this SIX TIMES!! (1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98) •One of two players in NBA history to score 3,000 points in a season: 3,041 points scored in 82 games played (37.1 ppg) (1986-87) * Wilt Chamberlain is the only other player to achieve this. •MJ is also the only player in NBA history to score over 40 points at age 40, and he did it twice! •In 1988, MJ earned: Dunk Champ, All Star Game MVP, NBA Scoring Title, League MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Michael in only ELEVEN complete seasons with the Bulls: -10 scoring titles, -Won Defensive Player of the Year, -9 times all defensive team, -9time All NBA, -5 league MVPs -6 finals MVPs All 11 seasons. Mj has done in 11 seasons things Lebron hasn’t done and won’t do in his whole career… Remind me again...who is the GOAT?

Player's are Bigger, Stronger, Faster and More skilled today in the game! and todays game is harder to play cause of rule changes...Jordan got away with a lot of body contact without picking up fouls!

But!!! to win on Multiple teams is WAY more impressive....cause having the ability to Lead....keep the chemistry together...and having the physical and mental game to lead Multiple teams! Jordan could not do that!!! the reason is because its about him! He was never a Leader...He would carry his team in the playoffs everytime! That's why he was soo tired at the end of his carear!

Ali wasn't undefeated, he didn't have the most knockouts but he's still widely considered to be the goat. Lebron in yr 18 scratching for his 4th because unlike real goats, he's been knocked off several times during his peak.

  • INTERESTING GOAT DEBATE INFO. Jordan participated in 15 seasons in the NBA For the sake of arguement I am gonna take away his 2 years in Washington when he was 39 and 40 after a 3 year pause.Take out the 95 season which he didnt play but a quarter of it and take out the 85 season in which he was hurt and only played 18 games. We have 11 full season remaining without those I mentioned.Out of those eleven- 10 times he led the league in scoring.10 TIMES!!!!And the one he didnt was his rookie year in which he averaged 28.2 ppg.Thats more than Lebrons career scoring average.Lebron has 1 scoring title which he won in 2008

    erik pukaerik pukaپیش 28 روز
  • Acho's argument seems to disqualify Lebron from the get go? Two things that for me puts Jordan on top, his NBA dunk contest wins, and Jordan's style on the court, he still has the best fade away jump shot only rivaled by Kobe's, Jordan's move's to the hoop are just so smooth. However in today's NBA Lebron is the King.

He is the all time per game leading scorer with 30.13 points a game which is higher than even Wilt In playoffs the difference is even bigger with 33.4 points a game In finals its 33.6.He has the most scoring titles ever at 10.Wilt is 2nd at 7.Iverson and KD have 4 each while Bron has 1. LeBron can be the best scorer on the court, the best defender on the court, the best playmaker on the court, and the best rebounder on the court all at the same time. That's beyond anything Jordan could do. Jordan may have been a killer, but LeBron is a monster.

  • I'm with Acho here (kinda, I don't actually think him losing this one DQ's him just makes his case worse) and I am a Jordan guy, also the idea that the player who has continuously shown you throughout his career that he does not bow to father time is all of a sudden got an expiration date and can't be in the question for the next 3/4 finals is silly, until Lebron shows you he has declined and fallen off a cliff, you count him in for the next year it's just that simple. I don't think the Lakers as an organization will do him any favors cause they've shown us in recent history who they are and they are last years lakers minus Lebron which is bad, but again still if he has AD and he continues to defy time he can absolutely drag a team to the finals and win it, I see that as a very real possibility for the next 3-4 years unless something serious happens to AD/Lebron and if I'm wrong about the Lakers as an organization and they do draft well or make some actually savvy free agency moves then it's not just a real possibility it's a possibility with good probability.

  • DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. MJ is the only person in the GOAT convo with DPOY. So 6 for 6 plus THEE most elite defender in the conversation. It’s a wash bruh. Plus Lebron never beat Kobe. Kobe was waiting for LeBron in the playoffs but LeBron never showed. Similar to Kawhi this year.

    Jake JonJake Jonپیش 28 روز
    • joseph Henry I hear you and I agree with you bro but you’re only bringing hypothetical situations to the conversation. Not sure what you want me to do with that? Jordan “should” have 8 MVP’s but he also “should” have 8 rings. He was the best player on the best team for 8 years STRAIGHT no doubt. But what he does have is a DPOY and Lebron doesn’t so... Acho and the boys should do there research

      Jake JonJake Jonپیش 21 روز
    • Jake Jon in 2013 it was clear that lebron was dpoy but gasol won it because of advance metric and was the best defender for the best defensive team. But you can’t argue eyes vs stats. Every time someone say anything positive about lebron every one assumes you’re a stan. Lebron should have 6 mvp, Kobe should have 3 and jordan should have like 8 but they get tired of giving it to the same people over and over. Like d rose had a worse season than lebron but won mvp because of the story line

      joseph Henryjoseph Henryپیش 21 روز
    • joseph Henry fair enough but now you’re arguing no.s versus reputation. Gasol would have won based on Gambia no.s. Maybe he was great that year. Remember defense is effort more than anything else. Look at jimmy butler and Patrick Beverly. Re: MVP’s 100% both got robbed. That’s why I don’t even talk MVP’s only ‘finals MVP’s’ Cos regular season MVP’s are just “best story” popularity contests.

      Jake JonJake Jonپیش 21 روز
    • Javigar13 I can say Jordan and lebron was robbed of a few mvp, saying someone was robbed is not biased. You’re assuming I’m a lebron stand!!! Marc gasol wasn’t even consider the best defender of his position but won dpoy......... he didn’t make the all defensive first team

      joseph Henryjoseph Henryپیش 21 روز
    • @joseph Henry Marc Gasol won It, why was he robbed? He was second, thats good. Surevthe NBA wanted Bron to win It... I mean, he was the hace ofvthe league. So, robbed... It is exaggerating and biased. Either you win It or you dont

    • Rene Rivota I didn’t say that, but I don’t see people giving Lebron credit for the 2015 finals or 2017 finals when he lead his team in practically every stat line. At the end of the day it was a loss.

    • Javigar13 what Spurs? The one with 3 hall of famers? The same spurs team that had won 2 out of the last 4 championships? They were 3 out of 5 after they beat the Cavs in 07. Go look at Lebron stats in Every Playoff series, he practically leads his teams in all categories.

    • @chris123jack dude... Those are all time great teams! And MH was a kiddo... Bron never faced those powerhouses! Look what happened on 2007, and those Spurs were not the Cs or the Bad Boys, not even in the same stratosphear.

    • Javigar13 That’s crazy that you say that he beat these Sorry Group of individuals when those groups of individuals won the West conference. So was the East sorry because Lebron was able to get through to the finals every year and now the West was Sorry because the teams that went to the finals was sorry. Lebron is literally in a Lose-Lose situation. Who were the Minors? The OKC team that got beat in the western conference finals the year before to the Eventual NBA Champion Mavericks? OKC Playoffs 2009-2010: Lost to NBA Champion Lakers 2010-2011: Lost to NBA Champion Mavericks 2011-2012:Lost in Finals to NBA Champion Heat 2012-2013:Lost to Grizzlies 2013-2014: Lost to NBA Champion Spurs 2014-2015: Missed the playoffs, Durant out for injury 2015-2016: Lost to NBA Champion Warriors Looks like they just got beat by better teams, they weren’t that young.

    • @BayouBoy 504 The break actually helps Jordan, adds to the myth of maybe they could have gone 8 straight. It refreshed him and he came back to 3 peat and cement himself as flawless. Lebron has never 3 peated even though he played with 2 all stars and a D wade who had one of the best finals in recent history and won finals MVP. MJ played with his best player being Pippen. Lebron is right, he is catching a ghost, ghost can't be caught.

It's more than the titles that make Jordan the GOAT, Lebron doesn't have the swag Michael had, he's not poetry in motion, the reason we all wanted to be like Mike! Lebron don't leave you in awww, EVER!!!

Like Paul pierce said it's hard to make even one. One thing i think fans dont take into consideration is the circumstances he reached those finals. The bulls without Jordan lost 2 fewer games any team without lebron is a lottery team
